ONI: a contemporary vintage item
ONI is not a new idea. In fact, your grandmother or great grandmother might have owned a tiny porcelain version. She would have taken it with her to parties, diners and dances as a very elegant way of keeping her handbag safe.

Sadly, as society changed and dress codes became more relaxed, the handbag holder became a thing of the past. However, the problem of where to put our handbags in restaurants and cafes hasn’t gone away. So we decided to look for a solution and ONI (Old New Invention) was born.

We’ve revived a vintage item and reinvigorated it to fit the latest fashion trends. ONI is not just a beautiful accessory: it’s also the perfect way to keep your handbag off the floor and where you can see it.

In Russia women have a superstition about putting their handbags on the floor. They believe the Gods will see it as a gift and it will be spirited away. Well, in a way they‘re right. We all know how vulnerable our bags are in busy restaurants, cafes and bars. And it’s not the Gods who spirit them away!
